We don't want to burst your bubble, but there's now more to party balloons than bendy poodles and limp decorations.
Online retailer Balloonfish is out to show that balloons can be gifts in themselves, and delivers 'bouquets' of the helium-filled wonders, which float out of their box when it's opened by the recipient.
'Helium balloons are usually seen as party decorations for children only. But we'd like people to treat them as gifts to send to family and friends,' says Joan Ng Wai-wah, marketing manager at Balloonfish.
'People always give gifts such as teddy bears or flower bouquets, which can get boring,' she says. 'We're offering something special: bunches of balloons themed around birthdays, farewells, graduations and more.'
The bouquets comprise a large balloon of about 75cm in height and four smaller balloons of about 50cm. There are more than 1,000 combin- ations to choose from, with the bal- loons sporting an array of colourful graphics, numbers, special messages and children's characters.
Each bouquet costs HK$310 and delivery is free (except to remote locations, such as the outlying islands). Customers who register at www.balloonfish.com.hk using the discount code 'grandopening11' will receive 50 per cent off their first purchase.
