Vote losers rush to beat complaint deadline

Four more losing candidates from November's District Council elections filed petitions with the Court of First Instance just before yesterday's deadline. Paul Yu Chi-shing, who contested the Tin Ping East constituency in North District, John Chan Hin-chung, who ran in Sai Wan Ho, and So Chun-man, a candidate in Po Lai, Sham Shui Po, are all contesting their election results because of alleged smear campaigns by their opponents. Chan, as well as Tsang Kin-shing of Lok Hong, Eastern, also claim opponents' expenses were not properly reported.

Bank chief gets French honour

David Li Kwok-po, the chairman and chief executive of the Bank of East Asia, was named a Commander of the French Legion d'Honneur on Monday at a private ceremony at the Four Seasons hotel. Chief Executive Donald Tsang Yam-kuen and French Consul General Arnaud Barthelemy were among the 400 guests.
