The brave young schoolgirl who was shot in the head by the Taliban in Pakistan apparently for defying a ban on girls' education has made a good recovery and returned to school on Tuesday - this time in the safer environment of a girls' school in Birmingham, England. Malala said she was excited to have her dream of going back to school come true and wanted the same for all girls in the world.
The new first lady of China won praise from mainland internet users and fashion designers when she made her first official appearance accompanying her husband President Xi Jinping on his trip to Russia. Mainland microblog postings described Peng as elegant and graceful, while others said "We finally have a presentable first lady for the first time since the establishment of the People's Republic of China."
The 12-year-old secured one of three spots in the Volvo China Open and will become the youngest golfer to play in a European Tour event. Ye eclipsed fellow Chinese golfer Guan Tianlang's record as the youngest player to qualify for such an event. Guan was 13 when he achieved the feat at last year's China Open. Ye is already well known on the international circuit. He won the US Kids World Junior Championship in San Diego in 2010 and 2011 and finished runner-up last year.
