Rumours have been making their rounds recently that TVB actor Raymond Lam Fung was considering quitting show business after he lost the TVB Awards best actor accolade to veteran Wayne Lai Yiu-cheung.
Son of property tycoon Lam Kwok-wah, the singer-actor denied the rumours on Sunday at a New Year party at Causeway Bay's World Trade Centre mall.
Lam said it had been a misunderstanding and clarified that he would not quit the trade just because he had not bagged an award. "But if my father wants me back to help with the family business, I will be there."
Lam certainly will not be retiring in the near future because he has a lot of work lined up for the new year.
Apart from preparing for his concerts later this month, he may also be involved in a few film projects this year.
Fans showed their support for the star at the party by holding up colourful placards bearing his name.
Lam performed a seven-minute song-and-dance item to thank them for their support.
But the best New Year's gift for his fans was perhaps finding out that he will be around for at least another year.
