The party power of urban fashion was put to the test on Wednesday evening at the opening of Gutter, a street-fashion pop-up store conceived by lifestyle brand Clot.

The night started innocently enough, with an opening event at Juice in Tsim Sha Tsui. Russ Karablin, the artist behind some of streetwear brand SSUR's most beloved designs, was on hand, selling and signing artwork for the eager shoppers, who lined up around the block.

After the signing, the party moved across the water to Yardbird in Sheung Wan, where co-founder Lindsay Jang kept the sake and food flowing. Tipsy and full of chicken meatballs, the crew then massed to XXX Gallery, where the real party got started. From there the night became a blur of SSUR-fitted caps and hoodies that lasted well into the night with a live hip-hop show, and a DJ spinning mainly East Coast rap.

In the VIP area, designers, hip-hop heads in town from Los Angeles, and urban fashion fanatics drank Yardbird's signature purple libation, popped bottles of Moët and danced with abandon. Even Liger boutique chicster Hilary Tsui Ho-ying was there, enjoying herself and showing support.

Some of the spirit of the evening should linger on at the Gutter store, which has been designed to feel like an inner-city bodega. In true pop-up fashion, Gutter will offer specially featured items every day.
