Peter Lam Kin-ngok understands the benefits of investing in a diverse range of businesses. So it was hardly a surprise when singer-actress Janice Man Wing-shan turned up at the opening of Gin Sai Japanese restaurant last week. Lam is an investor in the upscale restaurant and boss of the Lai Sun group, which owns the management company handling Man's showbiz career.
Also at the opening party were singer Janice Vidal and models Kathy Chow man-kei, Jessica Cambensy, Jocelyn Luko and her husband Anthony Sandstrom.
Located in the luxury Oakhill development in Wan Chai, Gin Sai claims to be the first restaurant in the city to use multi-tiered Seiro steamers, and specialises in robatayaki and French-Japanese fusion desserts.
There had been rumours that Man would sign with another agency after her contract with Lam's company ended. But she said she was considering renewing the contract because she values long-term commitment. It could be the way to go, especially if she likes Japanese food.
