It's been pretty civilised, says Stella McCartney after partying with Kate Moss
Fashion designer and supermodel friend in Hong Kong for Art Basel
British fashion designer Stella McCartney is in Hong Kong as part of her Asia tour, just in time for Art Basel. "The party [last night] was good," says McCartney, looking surprisingly fresh at our interview at 9.30am the next day, wearing her hair tied back and a simple white t-shirt underneath one of her trademark tailored black jackets. "It was really fun, it was nice!"
"It was fine, it was actually pretty civilised. Whenever Kate turns up, we've had crazier," adds McCartney, laughing as we sit in a corner at the MO Bar, The Landmark.
The daughter of the Beatles' Paul McCartney and photographer activist Linda McCartney is in Hong Kong to promote her label after a visit to Tokyo and throwing a big party for fans in Shanghai. As one of the most outspoken animal rights activists in fashion, McCartney has carved a lovely, and rather green, niche for herself in the industry.
Winning awards on both design and her uncompromising ethical standards, she has come into her own as a fashion figure and out of the shadow of her father's fame. McCartney does, however, cite both parents as major style influences growing up. A proponent of slow, timeless fashion rather than ‘high street, high waste’, she sees her clothes as a “long term investment”.
To find out more McCartney’s up bringing, having famous parents, and why she has never used leather in her design, read the full interview in an upcoming edition of Post Magazine.
