Hong Kong fashion fans urged to donate clothes for charity sale

A Hong Kong charity has launched an appeal for donations of luxury clothes for its annual charity drive.

Luxarity  collects secondhand designer clothes, shoes and accessories and sells them for a fraction of their original price. All proceeds will be shared between Mother’s Choice - a charity that cares for babies and children in Hong Kong needing permanent homes, and helps single girls who get pregnant and their families - and PathFinders, which protects children born in Hong Kong to migrant mothers.

Those wanting to donate can drop off clothes on April 17 and April 18 between  midday and 5pm at CentreStage Reception, 108 Hollywood Road, Central. The pop-up sale will be held on May 8 and  9 from 11am to 8pm at  Unit S710, PMQ, 35 Aberdeen Street, Central.

“The concept is based on the principle of fashion with compassion,” says co-founder Cristina Ventura. “We encourage the label-loving fashionistas of Hong Kong to recycle and upcycle last season’s wardrobes, and make a positive difference in their communities,” she says.

Luxarity ambassador Ankie Beilke said: “When I heard about the idea of donating my pre-loved clothes and accessories to such a good cause, I jumped at the chance."

Luxarity accepts women’s, men’s and children’s clothes, accessories, shoes, bags and leather goods from all the major luxury fashion houses in Paris, Milan, London, New York and elsewhere.  Donors contributing five items or more for collection can contact the Luxarity limousine at [email protected]
