Top 5 films to watch in Hong Kong this week – or not: September 10-16

While there are a remarkable 17 (or so) feature films opening in Hong Kong cinemas on September 3 and 10, it would be disingenuous for us to recommend anywhere near five, in view of the dearth of quality on offer.

Call it the post-summer lull. Come back next week for our verdicts on the slightly more promising Everest, American Ultra and Attack on Titan: End of the World. 

In the meantime, catch the two best current releases – Pixar’s Inside Out and the Hou Hsiao-hsien wuxia drama The Assassin  – if you haven't already seen them, and book your tickets for next week’s Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong edition.
