Moccona Indulgence

If you find waking up in the morning hard, the sight of this extremely murky, opaque brown liquid will just make matters worse. This leaves an unpleasant powdery feel on the tongue, and has a bitterness that is reminiscent of burnt nuts. There is a slight acidity to it.

Davidoff Grande Cuvée

While most powdered coffees look cloudy, this is surprisingly a little clear. It has a reddish tinge, with a slight fruity acidity to it, with some bitterness towards the end. While the flavours aren't deep or complex, this is more than sufficient for at least the first coffee of the day.

Robert Timms Gold Colombia Style

These individually wrapped, teabag style packs are great for travellers. Unfortunately there is quite a bit of residue at the bottom of the cup. Despite squeezing the teabag hard as per the instructions, the taste is very mild, almost bland, with a little nuttiness but not much more.

Nescafé Cap Colombie

Dark, powdery and murky, this isn't great to look at, but at least it delivers some flavour. This is one for people who enjoy a lot of acidity in their coffee. Like an under-ripe blueberry, the tartness hits immediately, but dissipates quickly. There isn't much else, but it's definitely drinkable.

UCC Meister Deep Special Blend

Individually packaged and designed to expand into a mini coffee filter that hangs from the lip of the cup, this is convenient. As expected of a filter coffee, you get a very clear, caramel-coloured brew. It tends towards a dark, roasted flavour, but is nonetheless light, rather like a strong tea.
