If I only had ...

... one spare lunch hour this week, I’d take the time to make a nomination or two for the World Responsible Tourism Awards. They reward businesses that support, give back to and protect the places we visit. It makes for a more interesting way to travel (read about last year’s winner, Reality Tours and Travel, and its educational Dharavi Slum tours on responsibletravel.com/awards). It’s also more fun than being isolated from reality in some resort. I believe the best adventures happen when you meet a local character along the way. The website is open to the public for nominations now. We’ll be keeping an eye on the finalists and telling their stories here later this year.
