Established in 2009 by Vogue magazine as a global shopping initiative to get people spending post-recession, Fashion's Night Out (aka FNO) is already a success in cities like London and New York. Last year the project launched in Hong Kong at Lane Crawford, with an evening of fun, entertainment and, of course, spending.
This year promises to be a bigger and better event. It will be held at Lane Crawford's IFC store on the evening of September 6 in collaboration with Vogue China. A host of special guests will be flown in, including London-based nail specialist Charlotte Knight who will be showcasing her "FNO" nail design and launching her latest manicure set. New York performance artists The Bumbys, otherwise known as the Simon Cowells of the fashion world, will entertain guests with their sartorial wit. Renowned celebrity make-up artist Tony Li and Chinese blogger Han Huohuo will be launching their new books.
On the local front, fashion and lifestyle boutique Kapok will host a pop-up shop, while Moustache will set up a bespoke tailoring shop and pop-up bar (the owners are also the masterminds behind local hotspot Salon X so expect some fabulous cocktails).
Blitz, the store's collaborative space, will be dedicated to all things punk. There you can watch a special screening of
A host of other brands are also offering customisation and monogramming services including accessories brands Slipz, Smythson and Cambridge Satchel Company. Select J.Crew and J Brand items can also be monogrammed on the spot. Hong Kong-based artist Mark Goss will be there to provide typography-customisation services for Rimowa luggage purchases.
All good events come with a cause and this one is no exception. Following on from last year's designer T-shirt series, Lane Crawford has collaborated with New York-based designer Alexander Wang on a range of limited edition, unisex charity t-shirts (HK$450) with all proceeds going to Unicef.
The festivities will continue through to the weekend (September 7 and 8) with more offerings online.
