Tama Lung

The Boqueria in Central has a lively atmosphere.

If you've been to Barcelona, you'd probably agree there's something irresistable about the city's tapas bars. Good food, plenty of drink and a casual yet lively atmosphere always make for a great night out.

Boqueria brings a taste of that to Hong Kong. The long dining room features a bar and open kitchen, with a mix of seating including banquettes and high tables. We kicked things off with the refreshing tinta (red wine) sangria (HK$58 a glass) and creamy croquettes studded with Iberico ham and black truffle (HK$238).

Other top-notch tapas included the bread rubbed with tomato (HK$58) and mussels stuffed with chorizo (HK$98), while the gambas al ajillo (HK$108) came out tasting more of salt than shrimp or garlic.

Boqueria also offers large dishes including paella (HK$148) and a grilled sirloin of grass-fed wagyu (HK$680) from Tasmania's Robbins Island. That and the selection of cheese, ham and desserts - not to mention the long list of Spanish drinks and wines - seemed to keep everyone in high spirits.
