On the top floor of an office building, across from the Emperor Hotel, is Sky 21, a lounge and restaurant offering a pan-Asian menu and panoramic views.
Seven chefs from South Korea, Japan, Thailand, India and Macau share two kitchens to prepare their native dishes with a creative twist.
A popular item is the seafood platter presented on a bed of ice, featuring lobster, clams, mussels, sea snails, abalone and prawns that can easily be a meal for two.
For Asian dishes, green mango salad with shrimp and Vietnamese paper rice rolls are beautifully presented. We liked the tom yum goong soup base in the Thai prawn clay hot pot, where we put the raw shrimp and mushrooms in ourselves to cook.
The only disappointment was the steamed sea bass in lime and chilli that was overcooked, but we appreciated the delicate flavours. Sautéed kurobuta pork in ginger sauce was tender with onions, while the butter chicken curry was not too heavy. Another favourite was the Macanese seafood rice with perfectly cooked fish, mussels and scallops.
Finally, the serradura was a sweet finish with layers of cream and biscuit powder, as was the black glutinous rice with coconut milk. Bernice Chan
