Seared crab cakes at Grand Hyatt Steakhouse

Grand Hyatt Steakhouse

FARE Steak and grills.

AMBIENCE The multilevel steakhouse has a private lift. The upper floor can be turned into private dining areas if need be, and the downstairs is split into different areas with booth seating, and low and high tables. The plush décor is accented with dark wood and velvet curtains, while classic music completes the vibe.

WHO TO BRING People to impress.

COST HK$2,500 for two, including a glass of wine.

TURN-ONS The ahi tuna tartare with avocado cream and cucumber salad was refreshing, while the recommended seared Maryland crab cakes went perfectly with the remoulade sauce. For mains, we opted for the Japanese Omi A4 strip loin with sides of crispy onion rings, whipped potatoes and creamed spinach. We also had the salad buffet's Caesar's salad and seafood. The wagyu steak came with a choice of sauces, but it didn't need any accompaniment, as it was perfectly succulent and flavourful. We finished with an excellent chocolate mud pie with vanilla ice cream and a Black Forest sundae. The service was attentive, and the booths offered privacy.

TURN-OFFS The lighting is a bit dim in places, and it can be hard to see the steps.

DRINKS A good selection of cocktails, whiskey, bourbon and spirits, beer and soft drinks.
