Behind the label: Edition

Jing Zhang

Who founded it? Genevieve Chew, a former chartered accountant, co-founded the label with architect Jacqueline Chak while they were running the Edit boutique in Central. The Hong Kong-based brand is only in its second season but fans have been impressed with its easy, modern pieces, which make for a fashionable working wardrobe that's perfect for the city.

Why we love it: the whole cool masculine-feminine thing is apparent in Edition's streamlined shirts, jackets and trousers. The clean lines, youthful urban chic and limited colour palette make for a small but clever collection of mix and match separates. These clothes are not overcomplicated or too seasonal but manage to strike a balance between sleek, timeless design and a trendy, cool vibe.

What we'd pick: for spring-summer, we love the ease of the double-breasted suit jacket (above right; HK$2,100), an item perfect for work or, with the sleeves rolled up, casual occasions. The striped items remind us of a younger, less luxe Céline, and our favourite is the blue and black striped circle skirt (right; HK$1,990).

Where can you get it? Edition is available at Edit, 67 Hollywood Road, Central, tel: 2549 4999; www.67edit.com
