Designer Konstantin Grcic (right) is behind this collection of raw and minimalistic chairs. Constructed from American walnut, Douglar fir, and thermo-treated ash.
Compact, minimal, sculpted, the Osso chair for Mattiazzi begs to be touched. French designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec (left) say the quality and "sensuality of the wood" makes the object. A high-technology system assembles the wood panels of the seat and back, creating strength to match their beauty.
The Branca chair is reminiscent of tree branches. The chair has a classic American feel. The seat and back are carved from a single piece of wood, and the joints are seamless. Branca chairs are stackable and designed for every day use. Designed by Brit Sam Hecht (right), half of London-based design practice Industrial Facility.
HE SAID / SHE SAID
No surprise that a design firm noted for its woodworking came up with a chair that demonstrates such graceful carpentry. What is surprising is how designer Nitzan Cohen (left) imagined a new dynamic with the subtle differences he built into his He Said and She Said chairs. Perfect for restaurants, cafés, and homes, the stackable Mattiazzi chair comes in three solid woods - black anilin beech, white lacquered beech, and natural ash. Unupholstered or with removable upholstery on the seat and back in 28 colours.
