Pakistani soldier shot dead in Kashmir

ISLAMABAD - Indian troops killed a Pakistani soldier in the disputed region of Kashmir, the Pakistani army said, as the nuclear-armed neighbours traded blame over a string of attacks. The soldier was killed by "unprovoked" Indian fire while manning a post in the Battal sector of Kashmir, a spokesman said. The two powers have denounced each other over a clash on Sunday, in which a Pakistani soldier was killed, and one on Tuesday in which two Indian soldiers died. Reuters

Seoul installs suicide monitors on bridges

SEOUL - The South Korean capital has installed anti-suicide monitoring devices on bridges over the city's Han river after 196 people jumped to their deaths last year. The move, in a country with the highest suicide rate among leading developed nations, incorporates closed-circuit television cameras programmed to recognise motions that suggest somebody might be preparing to jump from a bridge. Myanmar 'porn' furore magazine gets pulled

YANGON - With its photos of scantily clad women and advice on bedroom secrets, Myanmar's first sex education magazine has proven a step too far for the country's censors. Hnyo was pulled after just one issue because it was deemed to have ventured beyond its remit as a "fashion" magazine. Information minister Aung Kyi said it had published "near pornography". AFP
