Shenzhen’s Communist Party chief Wang Rong recently replaced his Audi A6 with a China-made electric car in a bid to promote green living, reported China's Southern Metropolis Daily [1]on Thursday.

Officials of Wang's rank are entitled to a motor vehicle costing up to 350,000 yuan (HK$436,000) for official use only with all expenses paid by the government.

While Wang has a driver to take him to work every day, he occasionally drives the car, a BYD E6,  himself, said the report.

Although the report reads favourly for Wang, many netizens don't agree.

“No matter it’s an Audi or a BYD, why is he entitled to use it to commute to work?” said a blogger on China’s twitter-like service Sina Weibo.

“Britian’s prime minister rides a bike to work,” said another Weibo user.
