Cults - fashion and religious - collide as hipster boutique opens pop-up store

It was hipster central on Wan Chai's Sun Street when eclectic boutique Kapok hosted a party to celebrate the launch of its collaboration with Spanish fashion label D-Due.

The store has been bringing together small, elusive brands from around the world since 2006, and its products range from clothing to home accessories, and beauty products to stationery. Its empire has recently expanded to include a cafe and gallery space.

This time, round the corner from the main store in St Francis Yard, it has opened a pop-up space where D-Due's autumn-winter collection will be on sale until September 2.

The garments are inspired by the Amish community who shun modern conveniences. D-Due describes the look as "from the street to the streets".

The result is a range of beautifully crafted clothing made with natural materials. D-Due added its own touch with hand-drawn illustrations, graphics and prints, making each piece one of a kind.

Indie fashion lovers and friends of Kapok mingled in the store's relaxed atmosphere, enjoying music and cocktails and seemingly a world away from the palaces of mass-commercialism nearby.
