HK$50,000 stolen from Tsim Sha Tsui tourist

A mainland tourist, 40, had HK$30,000 cash and a HK$20,000 diamond stolen from her handbag in Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, yesterday. Police are investigating the matter.

HK man dies after Phuket pool mishap

Phuket papers are reporting the death of a Hong Kong man who was at the Thai resort town's JW Marriott hotel on Monday. Lai Man-hoe, 31, was reportedly pulled out of the hotel's pool and taken to hospital where he died.

'Ban sex offenders from work with kids'

Some 70 per cent of parents and educators say there should be laws banning sex offenders from working with children or those with mental disabilities, a poll of 1,000 people by the University of Hong Kong public opinion programme from September to November shows. It found 80 per cent of the educators, from private institutes, had never used the Sexual Conviction Record Check Scheme.

Too few babies for new obstetric service

There will not be enough newborns to sustain a new obstetric service in Tseung Kwan O Hospital in the next three years, lawmakers heard yesterday. The Hospital Authority said a new service would need at least 3,000 babies born in Sai Kung each year, but projected numbers fell short due to the ban on mainland women giving birth in the city.

There was one winner of last night's HK$20,079,730 first prize. The winning numbers were 3, 4, 7, 24, 27, 31. The extra number was 13. Three tickets won the second prize of HK$580,250. The third prize paid HK$36,980.
