Man 'raped woman after suicide attempt'
A transport worker allegedly raped a woman he found lying semi-conscious in Aberdeen after she took over 100 pills in a bid to end her life, the Court of First Instance heard yesterday. Chan Wai-tung, 28, pleaded not guilty to raping the 38-year-old mother on June 14 last year. Prosecutors said Chan found the victim near Wah Kwai Estate, put her on a trolley and took her to a quiet place nearby where he raped her at about 8pm. The trial continues before Madam Justice Clare-Marie Beeson.
Cap peak-season visitor numbers, says Zeman
Ocean Park chairman Allan Zeman says there should be a peak-season cap on the number of tourists coming to Hong Kong to ensure the environment is welcoming to all. "If there are too many people, we stop selling tickets," he said, suggesting a two-week visa to limit the number of mainland visitors. He said 40 per cent of the park's 7.6 million annual visitors are locals.
Mother, infant dead; burnt charcoal found
A mother and her seven-month-old son were confirmed dead in hospital after they were found unconscious in a Fanling flat by the father when he came home. Burnt charcoal was found.
