Counselling for residents at gun drama building in Kowloon Bay

Shocked residents of the Kowloon Bay building where two people were shot dead at the weekend attended a counselling session last night.

It also emerged that a daughter of gunman Li Tak-yan is a so-called pseudo-model and mistress of a maverick film director.

Li is thought to have killed a neighbour, air-conditioning technician Liu Kai-chung, on Saturday night before turning the gun on himself 12 hours later.

The deadly drama appears to have spooked some residents of Lok Ching House on Kai Ching Estate, who were among those meeting clinical psychologists from the Social Welfare Department behind closed doors at a community centre on the estate. Anthony Chan Chung-ming, the department's senior clinical psychologist, said about 50 estate residents attended the session.

Earlier, Tsang Yuk, a 17th-floor resident, told the Post that a close friend of hers who lived opposite Liu on the 21st floor was too scared to spend the night at home. "She said she wanted to stay at a hotel that night [after Liu was shot dead]," she said. "She ended up spending that night at my home … She was so scared the next day, her hands trembled as she had congee for breakfast."

Yesterday morning, the department sent five social workers to visit residents on the 10th and 21st floors, the scenes of the shootings. They contacted 14 households, but none of them wanted immediate counselling.

Meanwhile, investigators found that jobless Li was the father of rookie actress Liddy Li, 27, a police source said. A recent media report alleged she was having an affair with Hong Kong director Oxide Pang Chun. She was seen kissing, hugging and holding hands with Pang, husband of award-winning Malaysian actress Angelica Lee Sinje, in the Elements shopping centre in West Kowloon late last month.

Liddy Li arrived with her mother, who divorced Li in 2010, at Fu Shan Public Mortuary in Sha Tin yesterday morning to identify his body. The pair wore black hats, masks and sunglasses, and left hurriedly after about an hour in a seven-seater vehicle with another woman.

Liddy Li only replied "Thx" to text enquiries sent by local Chinese-language media.

It remains a mystery why Li, 51, would have killed Liu, 43. There are no indications so far suggesting the two men knew each other or had a dispute, another police source said.
