High-speed car chase in Hong Kong ends abruptly with bus crash
Both driver and passenger arrested, with the latter attempting to escape by attacking an officer and causing injuries to policeman’s hand

Police have arrested the driver and passenger of a BMW after a high-speed car chase in Sheung Shui ended with the fleeing vehicle crashing into a bus.
Shortly before 3am on Tuesday, Emergency Unit officers from New Territories North tried to intercept the white BMW while on patrol on San Wan Road. The car fled at high speed.
“The vehicle fled along San Wan Road towards San Po Street. It travelled on the wrong side of the road and did not comply with traffic lights,” a police spokesman said.
“It later rammed into a bus that was parked on San Po Street, which ended the chase. The bus driver hurt his hand.”
Following the chase, the passenger attempted to escape by attacking an officer, causing injuries to the policeman’s hand. Meanwhile, a small amount of ketamine was found in the BMW, according to police.
The 29-year-old male driver, surnamed Wong, and 25-year-old male passenger both passed a breathalyser test and were arrested.
The driver was arrested for furious driving and drugs possession, while the passenger – who suffered injuries to his leg – was arrested for assaulting a police officer and drugs possession.
An investigation by Tai Po District crime unit is under way.
In September, a 32-year-old driver of a Mercedes-Benz was arrested after speeding through a police roadblock and leading officers on a high-speed chase in Sha Tin.
The fleeing vehicle was going as fast as 120km/h in an 80km/h zone during the three-minute-long pursuit.
