Book charts Breivik's e-mails prior to attacks

OSLO - A Norwegian publisher yesterday released a book of some of Anders Behring Breivik's email correspondence that show how he prepared for his July 2011 attacks that left 77 people dead. Kjetil Stormark, a journalist who has already published a book on the attacks that shook the world last year, has gone through more than 7,000 emails from four accounts used by the 33-year-old rightwing extremist before the massacre. Rebekah Brooks in brief court appearance

LONDON - Rebekah Brooks, a former Rupert Murdoch executive, appeared in a London court accused of conspiring to hack the phones of a murdered schoolgirl and hundreds of other high-profile victims. Brooks, 44, spoke to confirm her name and address and her understanding of the charges against her at the brief hearing at Westminster Magistrates Court. Reuters

Farc leader confirms talks with government

BOGOTA - The Farc leftist rebel leader has confirmed that preliminary talks have taken place with the government. "We come to the table for dialogue without rancour, or arrogance," Farc leader Rodrigo Londono said. It was the first comment from Latin America's oldest guerrilla army since the announcement a week ago of preliminary talks to end the 50-year-old conflict. AFP

Russell Crowe rescued during kayak trip

NEW YORK - Oscar winner Russell Crowe lost his way kayaking off New York's Long Island but was picked up by a coastguard boat and safely taken to shore. The actor, 48, was kayaking with a friend from Cold Spring Harbour. They lost their way as the sun went down. AP

Prince Andrew a fall guy for charity

LONDON - Britain's Prince Andrew, 52, has rappelled 239 metres down the side of Europe's tallest building to raise money for charity. His stunt began on London skyscraper The Shard's 87th floor and finished on the 20th. AP
