NCCU offers students a cosmopolitan learning experience

More than making quality education accessible to young minds passionate about learning, National Chengchi University (NCCU) instils in students the value of adopting a global perspective. For NCCU, empowering students to step out into the bigger world to make their mark is as important as providing a stimulating learning environment.

“We want students to have a global mindset, the right characteristics, integrity and ability to work with people from different cultural backgrounds. We want them to have the global mobility to work anywhere in the world,” says NCCU president Dr Edward Chow.

Counting notable politicians and successful business leaders among its alumni, NCCU has an 89-year track record of grooming successful graduates.

The public university continuously develops its curricula to incorporate changes brought about by rapidly changing times. NCCU offers degree programmes in education, liberal arts, commerce, law and other fields.

Adopting an internationalised approach, NCCU conducts some courses fully in English. There are also graduate programmes, such as the international master of business administration and international programme in Asia-Pacific studies, that are taught in English. Aiming to provide an immersive international experience, NCCU also arranges foreign internships through its alumni network.

NCCU is a cultural melting pot, with 600 international students enrolled in degree programmes and an additional 500 to 600 exchange students from partner universities.

Adding value to English-taught courses taken by international students, NCCU has started an English-Putonghua hybrid course for the business administration programme to help students learn the Chinese language. The university is looking to expand this offering to other programmes.

A big percentage of NCCU’s international student body comes from mainland China, and the university looks forward to welcoming more in the future with scholarship funding coming from donations of its alumni. It is also looking to partner with universities that can offer NCCU students a cosmopolitan learning experience.
