Electronics makers improve production with Mycronic equipment

Robert Gothner, general manager for Mycronic's SMT business area

Supporting electronics manufacturers as they respond to increasingly sophisticated market demands, innovation-driven firm Mycronic offers cutting-edge solutions that pave the way for the next big breakthrough in the electronics industry.

Mycronic's commitment to improving production standards and efficiency levels of customers has been vital to its growth since it started in the early 1970s. Having built a 450-strong patent portfolio, Mycronic has become a trusted name in high-quality pattern generators and surface mount technology (SMT) equipment.

In Asia particularly, the company sees strong opportunities to equip electronics manufacturers with greater capability for high-mix and high-speed production through its SMT business.

Offering greater flexibility to manufacturers, Mycronic's SMT solutions, comprising pick-and-place and jet printing machines, optimise material handling and information management to meet varying throughputs. With Mycronic's pick-and-place machines, manufacturers can address the challenges of just-in-time production through a high degree of utilisation, especially when the series are short and many different products are manufactured during a short period of time.

As a complement or alternative to screen printing in high-mix production environments, Mycronic's unique jet printing technology for applying solder paste on circuit boards (PCB) ensures high-quality solder joints.

Mycronic sees increased business prospects in China for its SMT equipment, as PCBs get more complicated and high-mix production adoption grows. With the demand in China, Mycronic has moved up from working with agents to establishing a local subsidiary, which has grown tenfold since its founding in 2008.

The company looks to further extend its reach in Asia, particularly in southern China's private sector. Mycronic is open to acquiring companies to help sustain its growth through new product developments.

"Our track record has placed us on the radar of international investors, and the number of international shareholders has increased. We are in a very strong position to execute a solid growth strategy," says Robert Gothner, general manager for Mycronic's SMT business area.
