Marco Polo Hotels celebrates 20 years in Xiamen

Having served global travellers with its distinctive and cutting-edge services since 1996, Marco Polo Xiamen is celebrating its 20th anniversary in November this year as the preferred place to stay in one of China’s top travel destinations.

“We are celebrating the 20th anniversary with our guests, staff and the community,” says Millie Tsui, general manager of Marco Polo Xiamen. “As a token of appreciation, we are pleased to offer guests, travellers and locals born on 11 November 1996—exactly the day the hotel was established—a free buffet lunch. And during the celebration period, hotel restaurant customers will also be served our signature Napoleon Cake as a compliment.”

A look back at the past 20 years, Marco Polo Xiamen has achieved a number of milestones. In 2001, it was the place of stay chosen by Singapore's prime minister and a large business delegation when they visited Xiamen. The hotel then underwent a substantial upgrade during 2008-2010. The hotel also won Business Traveller magazine’s coveted Best Business Hotel in Xiamen for 12 straight years between 2005 and 2015.

Millie adds: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank our owners, Lee Kim Tah Holdings Limited & Group and TEFANG Group, as well as the management company Marco Polo Hotels and all our loyal guests, for their continued support throughout the years.”

Xiamen is renowned for its scenic coastline and balmy weather. And also in part due to its cultural and business ties with Taiwan, Xiamen has long been hailed as one of the major gateways to China. Now, Xiamen is a hub of hospitality and entertainment for the rest of the world.

In close proximity to the spectacular Yundang Lake as well as the artsy Coffee Street and Bar Street, Marco Polo Xiamen is endowed with unparalleled superiority for a fabulous night experience in Xiamen. The luxurious hotel comprises 300 rooms, including 33 suites, each lavishly equipped with all the necessary amenities, including broadband internet access, mini-bar/refrigerator and in-room safe.

Arranged on the 7th and 8th floors with magnificent water views, the Continental Club Floor is meticulously fitted out, furnished and equipped to ooze modernity, sophistication and elegance. Designed for business travellers who look out for space and comfort, it offers an incredible range of state-of-the-art facilities and personalised services, such as Butler service, meeting facilities, a private lounge, a dedicated dining area, and a business centre where you can catch up on your work updates.

More flexible meeting and event spaces include a grand ballroom and nine multifunctional rooms, where you can play host to seminars, conferences, cocktail receptions, banquets and exhibitions of various sizes. All meeting spaces have state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment and banquet menus can be customized to suit local and international tastes.

Recreational facilities include a large outdoor pool surrounded by beautiful landscapes and vast wooden decking. The hotel further features a Fitness Centre, a Piccolo Kid's Club area, as well as spa facilities where you can pamper yourself after a day of hard work or intensive meetings. From Cantonese and Japanese to Western, the restaurants and cafes within the hotel offer a cornucopia of culinary delights in sophisticated settings.

The golden rule of hospitality is that happy staff equals happy guests. Only when employees enjoy working for and remain loyal to the hotel can they keep guests happy and make them come back.

“In the 20th year anniversary celebration, we’ll specially acknowledge our long-service employees, especially those who have worked with us since the hotel opened its door 20 years ago,” says Millie. The honorees will enjoy their well-earned tribute during a dinner in the company of the management, the hotel owner, as well as the preceding general managers who oversaw the hotel in the early years.

As a result of engaged staff and consistently outstanding services, the hotel accommodates many return guests with a retention rate of about 40%, and it's clear why: friendly smiles from reception staff, sociable service staff, understanding housekeeping, ample dining choices, cosy environment, and so on and on.

That’s why the hotel is often referred to as "the best hotel to stay in Xiamen" in comments posted by registered users on popular hotel websites.
