Sarah Lee Wai-sze registered another easy victory in Japan by winning a women’s keirin event against a field of local riders on Saturday.

The Hong Kong sprinter, bronze medallist in the keirin at the 2012 Olympic Games, won her race in the first round of the Daily Sports Cup in Hofu, Yamaguchi perfecture.

It was the fourth consecutive victory for Lee in Japan as Hong Kong’s world-class rider looks ahead to the second round on Sunday with the aim of making Sunday’s final.

Lee brushed aside the challenge of Japanese rider Reiko Kobayashi in the 1,682-metre, five-lap race, the same opponent she defeated in her first race in Yahiko velodrome in early October.

The 29-year-old was Hong Kong’s best medal hope at the Rio Olympics in August but she fell in the semi-finals of the keirin event while in the lead.

She was also knocked out in the quarter-finals of the sprint competition at the Rio velodrome.
