Hong Kong cyclist wins the women’s 500-metre time trial in New Dehli to continue her domination of the event for the sixth time since 2011

Hong Kong cyclist Sarah Lee Wai-sze clinched the women’s 500-metre time trial gold medal at the Asian Championships in New Dehli on Tuesday - her sixth title of the event since 2011.
The 29-year-old was in a class of her own when she finished the two-lap race in 34.204 seconds, beating second place Cho Sun-young of South Korea by more than a second.
Li Xuewei of China came third. Hong Kong also clinched their second gold medal at the regional competition in the Indian capital following Leung Chun-wing’s victory in the men’s 15-kilometre scratch race.
Although riders from China, Taiwan and Iran lapped the peloton to gain an early advantage, Leung saved his best for last with his effort to gain two laps in the final stages and come first. The women’s team pursuit, featuring Yang Qianyu, Diao Xiaojuan, Leung Po-yee and Pang Yao, lost to China in the final and had to settle for a silver medal.
On Monday, Lee also partnered youngster Ma Yin-yu for a silver medal in the women’ s team sprint.
