Functionality meets style in Everything Under The Sun’s latest collections at Horizon Plaza
Sunny days beckon outdoor living, and the collections available at Everything Under The Sun this summer include items that are both fun and practical
Summer often stands synonymous with barbecues, swimming pools, garden parties and open-air lounging. Outdoor furniture specialist Everything Under The Sun’s latest collections combine functionality with style.
One of the brand’s main objectives this summer is to infuse outdoor living with a sense of nature. The design team has combined modern materials with man-made fibres, taking inspiration from handcrafted willow and hazel hurdles.
Its Cane-line Moments collection is designed by Danish design duo, Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen.
Central to the Moments series is the setting of new standards in the multiflexible design discipline whilst incorporating the designers’ Scandinavian sensibilities in creating an elegant, transparent and minimalistic range.
The Cane-line Kingston sunchair uses a newly developed fabric called Cane-line SoftTouch, made exclusively for the Cane-line series. Its Quickdry system means that cushions made with this fabric dry within about an hour following a rain shower – which is perfect for those wet Hong Kong summers. And while the chair’s size and shape may deceive you into believing it could present a storage headache, it is in fact stackable.
As with all outdoor furniture in Hong Kong, functionality and space-saving are top priorities. One of the brand’s highlight products this year consist of the versatile two-in-one Extremis Sol+Luna Borealis with backrest. It is a sun bed by day with a handy shelf running along the side, but at night it can be instantly turned into a sofa. It has a backrest that runs along its length, and after adding a few cushions (sold with the Extremis), it can be used to provide seating for up to three people, should the party carry on after sunset. It comes with a round parasol for daytime use, and is equipped with a light for evenings.
Something that will fit onto the tiniest of balconies is the Fermob Bistro Balcony Table, a foldable outdoor table that can either be fixed to the balcony or be wall-mounted. The table, with fold-away top, seats two people.
