Cell out: sponsors hope to attract big crowds at inaugural Hong Kong T20 Blitz by giving away 1,000 free mobile phones to fans
Sponsor offers the give-away for those who buy tickets for Saturday and Sunday action at Mission Road
The title sponsor of the DTC Mobile Hong Kong T20 Blitz will be giving away free mobile phones to 1,000 fans who buy tickets for Saturday and Sunday of the tournament.
There will be 500 given away with tickets bought for the 28th and another 500 for the 29th. The tournament runs from May 27-29 at Mission Road.
Organisers expect tickets to sell fast after the announcement that former Australia captain Michael Clarke will turn out for the Kowloon Cantons.
“Since we are the title sponsor of the event, we want to strengthen our brand image around this event and what better way than to give away our quality products,” said DTC Mobile managing director Sanjay Bhimsaria.
The price of general admission is HK$100, while fans wanting a food and drinks package can opt for a gazebo for 10 at HK$6,000, which includes free-flow beer and wine.
For the ultimate experience, a limited number of 20 tickets per day are on sale for the HKCA/owners VIP Marquee at HK$2,000 per person. Here patrons can get up close with the International stars and enjoy a fully catered day at the cricket from 9am to 6pm.
HKCA Marketing and Commercial Director Max Abbott is hopeful the DTC promotion will help the event become a sell-out.
“It is very generous of DTC mobile to present their phones as souvenir to our paying ticket holders.” Abbott said.
“With Michael Clarke in action and other overseas stars, this now a must-see event for cricket fans in Hong Kong.
“It’s a great chance to showcase the popularity of the sport here to the Chinese community as well.”
The tournament features four teams – Woodworm Warriors, Kowloon Cantons, Hung Hom JD Jaguars and Lantau GII Galaxy Riders.
