World Cup-winning captain Darren Sammy signs for Hung Hom JD Jaguars in T20 Blitz
West Indies star joins Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara in the March tournament
Hung Hom JD Jaguars have come to the Hong Kong T20 Blitz party with one of the biggest names in the game, with West Indian captain Darren Sammy signing up for the March 8-12 tournament.
The 33-year-old Sammy led West Indies to the World T20 title last year against England, his second crown as captain after they beat Sri Lanka in the 2012 final.

“Darren Sammy is a stalwart of the game. His celebrations with the pacifier and champion dances have won him countless fans across the globe,” said Jaguars team coach Afzaal Haider.
“More than that, he is a very astute cricketer, who can contribute with the bat, ball and strategies,” he said.
Sammy, the former West Indies test captain, is a crowd-pleaser in the mould of compatriot Chris Gayle and has played for some of the top franchises in Australia, Pakistan and the Indian Premier League.
It’s a major signing for Jaguars – who are sponsored by Bueno Insta Pizza – after rival teams Kowloon Cantons secured the services of Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi and Galaxy Gladiators Lantau announced the signing of Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakara.
Also taking part in the Tin Kwong Road tournament are Hong Kong Island United and City Kaitak, both of whom are expected to announce their signings over the next few days.
