For the third time this year, Chinese star Lin Dan was eliminated in the opening round of a super series tournament.

The latest one came from the French Open as he was beaten by unseeded H.S. Prannoy of India after three games in Paris.

The two-time Olympic men’s singles champion took the first game 21-14, but it was already the best the third seed could offer as the Indian shuttler bounced back with two games 21-11, 21-17 to take the tie.

Lin also lost in the first stage of the Indonesia and Australian Opens.

Prannoy will now meet Ng Ka-long of Hong Kong in the second round after the latter overcame Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand 21-9, 14-21, 21-11.
