Hong Kong's Rex Tso will feature on Zou Shiming undercard in Macau

The unbeaten Rex Tso (9-0-0, 6 KOs) continues to go from strength to strength and he will show off his skills in front of an estimated 15,000 crowd - by far his biggest audience - at the Venetian's Cotai Arena on July 27.

Rex Tso Sing-yu achieved another milestone when he was confirmed to fight on the undercard featuring China's two-time gold medallist Zou Shiming in Macau next month.

The unbeaten Tso (9-0-0, 6 KOs) continues to go from strength to strength and he will show off his skills in front of an estimated 15,000 crowd - by far his biggest audience - at the Venetian's Cotai Arena on July 27.

Tso earned his place on the Macau card after his devastating fourth-round TKO over former two-time WBC champion Wandee Singwancha of Thailand last month. Tso will fight 29-year-old Rusalee Samor of Thailand (20-4-2, 9 KOs) in Macau. Zou will fight Mexican Jose Ortega over six rounds in the main event.

"I will realise a dream by fighting at the Cotai Arena. I was at the Zou Shiming fight in Macau last month and the atmosphere was really good. Fighting in front of 15,000 people will be a whole new experience for me. I'm going to make the most of this opportunity," said 25-year-old Tso.

"I know I can perform better if people support me. A lot of people from Hong Kong will go to Macau to watch the fights," said Tso, who successfully retained his super flyweight WBC ABCO Asia continental title last month.

Bob Arum, CEO of promoters Top Rank, said the Hong Kong star could be signed by the stable if Tso notches his 10th straight pro victory.

"We have heard about him and we will also put him on the card in November [with Manny Pacquiao in Macau] if he fights well. He's definitely on the Macau card on July 27. He has an opponent, the match has been made. The Venetian reached out to our matchmakers to make sure Rex goes on the card," said Arum.

Arum also didn't rule out the possibility of a future Zou-Tso showdown since they are of similar weight. Zou is a flyweight and Tso is about five pounds heavier as a super flyweight (115 pounds).

"Wouldn't that be huge? I'm licking my chops. Of course that can happen. It could be a natural rivalry. They are both Chinese. But that's boxing and Americans fight each other all the time. Hong Kong and Macau are special autonomous regions and then there's mainland China, there's a difference," said Arum.

"The boxing people in Asia have really begun to sing his [Tso's] praises. We are going to sit down and talk to his people when we are over there in July. Sure, he could be signed by Top Rank."

Meanwhile, Zou has settled in "nicely" in Los Angeles and will be ready for his second pro fight, according to Arum. Zou's wife, Ren Yingying, is expecting their second child this summer.

"The couple has rented a home in Los Angeles. His wife is seven months pregnant and the baby will be born in the US. Zou's parents are also going to coming over. Zou's happy," added Arum.
