Under pressure South China returned to winning ways in the BOCG Life Hong Kong Premier League yesterday - but only just as they ran out 2-0 winners against YFCMD.

The Caroliners, still smarting from their 3-0 defeat by Sun Pegasus in midweek, lifted themselves to fourth in the table with only their second win of the season thanks to two first-half goals from Sean Tse Ka-keung at Hong Kong Stadium.

South China coach Yeung Ching-kwong said Tse had played an important role in the win after starting from the substitutes' bench in the Caroliners' last game against Pegasus because of 'flu.

"Overall, I am happy with how we played today. Sean made his presence felt and you can tell when he's playing. He has been active in both defence and attack," said Yeung. "We will have a 21-day break from now before we meet Kitchee in our next league match. I will discuss with the coaching team and our convenor to see if we can have a short training camp in the mainland or somewhere else."

Tse opened the scoring in the 20th minute after picking up Leung Chun-pong's pass from the left that YFCMD defenders failed to clear, scoring with a blistering shot just outside the box.

Tse completed his brace five minutes before the break, heading home Lo Kong-wai's corner.

There was more bad news for YFCMD after Leung Kwun-chung hurt his neck after coming in contact with South China Michael Cheng Lai-hin's elbow.

Leung was admitted to hospital and would need a full medical check-up.

In an earlier match at Hammer Hill Road Sports Ground, I-Sky Yuen Long were held to a 2-2 draw by Wong Tai Sin after leading 2-0 for most of the game.
