Wong Tai Sin gave Sun Pegasus plenty of resistance in their League Cup thriller at Mong Kok Stadium last night.

The club managed to score twice against Pegasus, who eventually overpowered them for a 3-2 victory in their opening group C match.

District side Wong Tai Sin gave many young players their debut, while Pegasus’ line-up saw players return from injuries.

Pegasus’ Festus Baise headed home a corner from Ju Yingzhi in the 24th minute. Ju’s second corner in the 34th minute opened up a chance for Aleksandar Randelovic to extend the score with a header.

Wong Tai Sin’s Wong Chun-hin then pulled one back after Lau Tsz-kin’s shot was blocked by a Pegasus defender in the 42nd minute.

Randelovic scored another goal in the 67th minute and Michael Campion had an own goal during injury time after the second half.

Pegasus’ Jaimes McKee said the team were not in their best form, but it was important that they won the game.

Wong Tai Sin coach Poon Man-chun, who was impressed by his young guns, said he would have more choices for his starting list in their next game.
