Hong Kong’s Marco Fu Ka-chun made his second 147 of the year at the Gibraltar Open to become only the sixth player ever to achieve the feat more than three times.

Fu made the fourth maximum break of his career on his way to a 3-2 victory over Sam Baird in the last 64.

He joins Ronnie O’Sullivan (13), Stephen Hendry (11), John Higgins (7), Ding Junhui (5) and Shaun Murphy (4) as the only players with more than three 147s.

“It’s a great feeling to make a 147, and every snooker player’s dream,” said Fu.

“I felt relaxed throughout the break, I had the white ball under control and I was never in much trouble.

“Hopefully I can win a few more matches in this tournament and qualify for the Players Championship.”

Fu also made a 147 at the Masters earlier this year, and will receive a £3,500 bonus, providing the 147 is not matched later in the tournament.
