Marco Fu wins Gibraltar Open for first title in two years
Hong Kong snooker player beats Michael White 4-1
Hong Kong’s Marco Fu Ka-chun won his first title since 2013, triumphing 4-1 over Michael White in the final of the inaugural Gilbraltar Open.
Fu, who had a 147 earlier in the tournament, won three frames in a row from 1-1 to take the title and with it qualification for the Players Championship Grand Final. He won €25,000.
It was Fu’s first European Tour title after he lost two previous finals.
“It’s great, I’ve heard a lot about Gibraltar in the past but this is the first time I have been here and it is absolutely beautiful,” said Fu. “It’s always nice to be able to take part in a big tournament like this in a new place because we get to see the city and play snooker as well.
“Winning it is like a dream come true. This is my first European Tour title and it is in Gibraltar so I will be back.”
