All four Hong Kong players, headed by the city’s number one player Ng On-yee, reached the elimination round of the Eden Masters in Derby, England, but in the end it was home favourite Reanne Evans who reigned once again as she claimed her fourth title at the Cueball.

The world number one and defending champion, who also beat Ng in the final last year, showed no mercy as she thrashed Hong Kong player So Man-yan 4-0 in the best-of-seven frames final on Sunday.

World number two Ng, who intended to use the tournament as part of her preparations for next month’s World Championship in Singapore, was knocked out by compatriot Jaique Ip Wan-in in the quarter-finals 3-2 after a close match.

But Ip suffered the reversed fate when she was on the losing end of an all-Hong Kong semi-final as So prevailed 4-2 to set up a clash against favourite Evans, who defeated Laura ‘Lal’ Evans 4-0 earlier in the day to reach the final.
