Marco Fu Ka-chun’s run at the World Grand Prix in Preston was ended at the semi-final stage in Preston on Saturday when the Hong Kong man lost a close encounter 6-4 against Wales’ Ryan Day.

Day booked his place in the final, where he will meet Barry Hawkins, after overcoming a 4-2 deficit to steal the match. The 36-year-old Day took the last four frames in a row to seal his passage.

Marco Fu surges into semis at snooker’s World Grand Prix

Fu registered two century breaks and three others over 50 in the match, but struggled to find his rhythm as a determined Day saw the match out.

Fu’s attention now switches to the Welsh Open which begins next week with a first round meeting against England’s Martin Gould in Cardiff.
