Kitchee crowned Hong Kong Premier League champions after rout of Eastern

Sandro scores hat-trick in 4-1 victory at sold-out Mong Kok Stadium to seal place in 2018 AFC Champions League

Sandro scored a hat-trick as Kitchee were crowned the Hong Kong Premier League champions after defeating Eastern 4-1 at Mong Kok Stadium on Saturday.

Kitchee, who needed to win the match as they were one point behind the defending champions before kick-off, led 2-0 going into the break after a first-half double from Sandro.

Krisztian Vadocz then headed home from a corner to make it 3-0 two minutes into the second half, before Michel Antunes Lugo pulled one back for Eastern after 55 minutes.

However, any faint hopes of an Eastern comeback were extinguished when Sandro completed his treble 13 minutes from time.

With victory, champions Kitchee qualified for the group stage of the 2018 AFC Champions League as the Hong Kong representative.

Kitchee also have the chance of securing a treble of trohpies as they will meet South China in the FA Cup final next week, having defeated Eastern 2-1 in the Senior Shield final earlier this year.
