The South China player cited personal reasons, but it is believed he is not happy with the team's management style and the selection of so many inexperienced players. Former Chelsea manager Avram Grant yesterday slammed the FA for taking action against John Terry. Terry returned to FA headquarters at Wembley yesterday for the second day of a disciplinary hearing over a charge he used racist language towards QPR defender Anton Ferdinand. "Nobody thinks John Terry is a racist, so the FA need to leave it," Grant said "John likes to fight and he's very passionate about the national team so I was surprised [he retired] . But he's not a child - he knows what he's doing. One thing I must say about JT is that he's not a racist." AFP
Yi Jianlian has secured a one-year deal to return to his old club back home after the Chinese international failed to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks in the US.
