Keung Tsz-hing was crowned king of the Volkswagen Action Asia XC Mountain Bike Festival after showing his rivals a clean pair of heels to win his second straight race at Tai Lam Chung yesterday. Probike team member Keung had dominated Saturday's first race and proved too strong for the field again. Keung finished in one hour, 18 minutes and 58 seconds for a two-day combined 54-kilometre time of two hours, 54 minutes, 23 seconds. Alistair Haigh-Smith was second overall (3:03.12 ), while Howard Tsang was third (3:06.48). Kenya's Raymond Bett won the 30th Athens Classic Marathon yesterday in a new fastest time of two hours, 11 minutes and 35 seconds. The 28-year-old was followed across the line by five of his countrymen, with second place going to Paul Kosgei, who clocked 2:12.20, and Alex Kirui in third at 2:12.26. Bett, who also won in 2010, beat the previous race record set last year by Morocco's Abdelkerim Boubker by five seconds. Boubker finished eighth in this year's race in 2:18.10. The women's race was won by 29-year-old Kenyan Consalater Chemtai Yadaa in a time of 2:40, beating out Ukraine's Svitlana Stanko, who finished seven seconds behind. Some 26,000 runners from dozens of countries took part in mostly sunshine and cool temperatures in the 42-kilometre run from Marathon to Athens. AFP
