Veteran table tennis player Tie Yana has set her sights on playing for Hong Kong in the next Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The 33-year-old has not been seen at an international competition since the London Olympics last year but will face a hectic schedule starting this month, which includes the World Team Cup in late March in Guangzhou, followed by the Korean Open before returning to the city for the HK$780,000 GAC Group Asian Cup in mid April. "Although I have not played in any of the world tour events, I still play club competition in the Chinese Super League these days and my form is not too bad," the three-time Olympian said. "Although I am not young anymore, I still enjoy the sport as much as I did 10 years ago and want to continue my career as long as possible with Rio in mind." Chan Kin-wa

A spirited Hong Kong cycling team will be defending their top medal tally position at the Asian championships, which begin in New Delhi, India, today. Headed by newly crowned world champion Sarah Lee Wai-sze, the 26-member squad (including junior riders) will need to fend off tough challenges from China, Japan and South Korea to keep their number one position. Lee, the London Olympic Games bronze medallist in the women's keirin, will be featured in the 500-metre time trial, sprint, keirin and team spirit, where she will partner up-and-coming Tsang Hiu-tung. Hong Kong won six gold, three silver and four bronze medals at the last event in Kuala Lumpur, relegating China to second place in both the number of golds won and total medal tally. Wong Wan-yiu kicks things off for Hong Kong in the women's points race today. Chan Kin-wa
