Hong Kong beat Scotland in first Twenty20 as wet ground limits match to 10 overs each
Wet ground meant the game was shortened as the local side easily chased 66 runs
Babar Hayat hit a six to take Hong Kong to a nine-wicket victory over Scotland on Saturday in their first Twenty20 match – reduced to 10 overs each – at Mission Road.
Man-of-the-match Hayat hoisted Mark Watt for his second six of the match in his innings of 26 as Hong Kong chased Scotland’s score of 66 for seven with 22 ball remaining.
Anshuman Rath was not out on 20 while Jamie Atkinson also hit 20 before he was out in the third over.
A wet ground that forced the second one-day international to be abandoned delayed the start of Saturday’s game, which was eventually shortened to 10 overs each.
Scotland had three players who made double figures during their innings – opener George Munsey (17), Matt Machan (10) and Calum MacLeod (16).
The second T20 match of the Braidwood Cup series will be played today, weather permitting.
Hong Kong and Scotland have qualified for the ICC World T20 in March in India. The two sides will be facing each other in the preliminary round as they try to qualify for the final stages.
