The 17-year-old Kenyan held off Ethiopian Taresa Tolosa’s to secure the title courtesy of an unconventional finish

Kumari Taki won a second world title in the 1500m at the IAAF World U-20 Championship after diving across the finish line in Bydgoszcz. northern Poland on Friday.

The 17-year-old Kenyan held off Ethiopian Taresa Tolosa’s to secure the title after crossing the line, albeit in an unconvesntial manner, in three minutes, 48.63 seconds.

“I knew that the Ethiopian had a stronger kick than me so I had to dive at the line, and I made it,” Taki told the IAAF official website. “I wanted this for a long time.”
