“10 reds is a new game, I’ve never played before, although the pace is slower than six reds,” said Ng.“So the rhythm is always faster than the usual 15 reds, and I had to adapt.

“The trip to the UK has been quite crammed, and although in the men’s world championships and women’s doubles I didn’t achieve the best results, but from Singapore [at the Women’s World Championships[ to Leeds, 15 reds, six reds and 10 reds, I do not know what number of figures can be out of the triangle?”

Ng said she was looking forward to a rest but her hectic schedule continues with a trip to India for the Asian Championships.

“On-yee continues to prove herself as one of the best female snooker players in the world with another two individual world championships,” said Wayne Griffiths, head billiards sports coach at the Hong
Kong Sports Institute.

“Her performance this week off the back of a disappointing showing in the men’s event a few days earlier, has been hit and miss, but she has been working on her B game and her mental skills so that she can still carve out results if top form eludes her.

“The key to consistency at elite level is not letting the dips in form come too often or get to deep – and finding ways to stay positive and get over the line when these dips come along. This is one of the key areas On-yee continues to improve in.”

Katrina Wan Ka-kai teamed up with Sanderson ‘Panda’ Lam to lift the mixed pairs’ title, while Ng and Wan also reached the semi-finals of the women’s pairs.

Ng’s cause was helped by the absence Reanne Evans, 11-time world champion.

She was competing in the second round of qualifying for the men’s world championships, and lost 10-6 to Lee Walker after a thrilling fightback from 6-1 down.

Ng took part in the qualifying tournament as well, but was beaten in the first round.
