Police officials don’t disclose the value of the stolen items, the address of the home or the home’s owner, but gossip website TMZ reports the home belongs to Puig

Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig’s home in Encino, California was broken into on Thursday night about an hour after the Los Angeles Dodgers lost game seven of the World Series, according to media reports and police.

Los Angeles Police officers responded to a burglar alarm at a home on Puig’s block around 9.45pm (local time), said Officer Rosario Herrera, a department spokeswoman.

Police officials did not disclose the value of the stolen items, the address of the home or the home’s owner. Gossip website TMZ reported the home belonged to Puig.

Puig bought a remodelled Encino home on the block for US$2.65 million earlier this year, public records show.

Burglars also hit Puig’s Sherman Oaks home in March and made off with at least US$170,000 worth of jewellery.

There has been a rash of burglaries at celebrity homes in the last year.

Singer Alanis Morissette’s Brentwood mansion was broken into in February. Burglars made off with a safe containing US$2 million in jewellery and other valuables.

Nearly US$500,000 in valuables were stolen from the home of Los Angeles Lakers guard Nick Young in February.
