UFC’s Dana White unsure how long Conor McGregor can stay idle with belt after Mayweather showdown
UFC chief says no plans are being made for two-weight champion to return this year
UFC president Dana White says he is unsure how long Conor McGregor can keep his lightweight title without defending it.
White said, “that’s what we have to figure out,” in a telephone interview on Thursday night, three days before UFC 218 in Detroit.
McGregor hasn’t fought in the UFC since he knocked out Eddie Alvarez on November 4, 2016.
White says he talks weekly with McGregor, adding he is under contract to fight four more times for UFC.
McGregor made about US$100 million for boxing Floyd Mayweather in August. White says McGregor isn’t in a rush to fight because of the money he made for stepping in the ring with Mayweather.
McGregor, who not announced his plans, is in a powerful position as a huge draw in two combat sports.
